Jessie J Says "Party in the U.S.A." Paid Her Bills for Three Years!

It wasn't just a "Party in the U.S.A" for Miley Cyrus!

Although the "Adore You" singer released the mega-hit song in 2009, she wasn't the only artist to benefit from the song's catchy beat and lyrics. British singer Jessie J actually penned the hit all those years ago and now admits that royalties helped keep a roof over her head!

"You've got to write songs, that's where the money is, being an artist. "Party In The USA" paid my rent for, like, three years," she told Glamour magazine. "Actually it was way longer than that. That's where I get most of my money. I write songs. I'm a singer. I love endorsements and stuff, but that's all added on."

The 26-year-old pop sensation has also written songs for Chris Brown and American Idol winner Lisa Lowes. Although Cyrus turned "Party in the U.S.A." into a No. 1 hit after covering it, the "Price Tag" singer originally pitched it for herself, but the label didn't think it sounded right!

"You know what's more weird though, is that you're not actually there when they record it," she explained of the process. "I recorded 'Party In The U.S.A.,' played it for the label but they didn't think it was right for me. So they pitched it and two weeks later it was number one in six countries."

The label was definitely on to something!

Cyrus, whose music and style has definitely taken a turn since recording the song that launched her from famous to A-list, previously told V Magazine that she never regretted recording it despite her new sound.

"I can never say that I don't love 'Party in the U.S.A.' and that I'm not appreciative of it," she says of her Disney days. "It would like my dad saying that he hated 'Achy Breaky.' It's what gives you everything that you have. I would never take it back," she told the mag.

At least she still shows some love...unlike Hannah Montana, whom Cyrus quickly killed off in an SNL monologue. RIP Hannah!
