Jennifer Aniston Talks Tabloid Troubles: "I Think Everyone Knows It's All B.S. and Like a Soap Opera on Paper"
According to data compiled by Vanity Fair, Jennifer Aniston is a tabloid queen.
In 2014 alone, the Cake actress tied with the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, with 32 covers. According to the headlines, Aniston was "jilted" or "heartbroken" 11 times, "pregnant" nine times, planning her "dream wedding" eight times, "feuding" six times, on a "romantic getaway" three times and "married" twice. She also had exes "reveal secrets" about her twice and had plastic surgery twice.
Sounds eventful!
So, how does Aniston deal with the fictitious drama?
"Just don't pay attention," Justin Theroux's 45-year-old fiancé tells Lee Cowan in a CBS Sunday Morning interview, airing Jan. 4, 2015 at 9 a.m. ET. "I think I used to really, there was a period where I was hell bent on saying, 'That's not true, that's not right, that's not fair.' And now I just think you have to let it roll off your back and you realize, I think everyone knows it's all B.S. and like a soap opera on paper."
Luckily, Theroux is on the same page when it comes to tabloids. "The main thing is to try to just keep refocusing back on what you know is true and what makes you guys happy," the actress confesses.
"We know what our truth is," Aniston tells Cowan. "That's all just static."
Instead of refuting rumors, Aniston would rather discuss her role in Cake, in which she plays a woman struggling with chronic pain, who is suicidal and addicted to pain killers. "This felt for me...I was really ready to, you know, just disappear and really go into the depths of a character," Aniston says of the role.
Aniston earned Aniston a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination and a Golden Globe nomination, and there's already buzz that her role in Cake could be worthy of an Academy Award nomination. "We were a little teeny weensy movie made for four dollars and we poured our hearts into it and everyone worked so hard, so that this is happening on top of that, it's just like a huge giant juicy cherry on top," she says.
The movie also proves Aniston is more than just a rom-com star.
"A little part of me saying, 'I told you so?'" she asks. "Maybe a teensy one."
