Shonda Rhimes May Be the Only Person Who Did Not Like Lady Gaga's Oscars Performance
Perhaps she needed to adjust the volume on her television?
Shonda Rhimes is backpedaling after the 45-year-old TV creator found herself on the receiving end of criticism following comments she made about Lady Gaga's performance at the 2015 Oscars.
The Mother Monster wowed fans and critics alike when she performed a tribute to the Sound of Music's 50th anniversary on Sunday, which included noteworthy ballads such as "My Favorite Things," "Edelweiss" and "Climb Ev'ry Mountain" as well as a surprise appearance by the film's lead star, Julie Andrews.
And in case you haven't been on the Internet in two days, viewers were stunned by the singer's phenomenal performance, which many have called a career defining moment for the "Bad Romance" beauty.
Except Shonda Rimes, that is.
The Scandal, How to Get Away With Murder and Grey's Anatomy creator took to Twitter during the ceremony to express her distaste for Lady Gaga's tribute, and apparently, she had some harsh reactions from the Twittterverse as she later took to the social media site to admit "I don't know jack."
Rhimes is, of course, referring to Frozen's Idina Menzel, who performed at the Oscars last year, as well as Julie Andrews, who warmly embraced Gaga on stage after her big moment.
Unsurprisingly, many were left scratching their heads following the screenwriter's shade-throwing tweet--one user wondered if Rhimes was "watching the same show as us"--leading Rhimes to later backtrack over her remarks.
"Dear Lady Gaga, thank you for that wonderful tribute," Andrews said on stage at the show as she gave the singer a giant hug. "It really warmed my heart. It's hard to believe that 50 years have gone by since that joyous film was released. I blinked and then suddenly here I am. I think that I do speak for everyone connected with the movie when I say we all really felt blessed to have been a part of it. And as for me, well, how lucky can a girl get?"
