Hilary Duff Files for Divorce From Mike Comrie a Year After Separation
Friendly exes may be all that Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie ever are from here on out.
Duff has filed for divorce from the retired hockey player, just over a year after it was revealed that they had separated, the singer-actress' rep confirms to E! News. They have one child together, 2 1/2-year-old son Luca.
According to TMZ, Duff cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. Per the filing, Duff is asking for primary custody of Luca with visitation rights for her ex.
"They remain best friends and will continue to be in each other's lives," Duff's rep said in a statement when they broke up a year ago, calling the split amicable. "They are dedicated to loving and parenting their amazing son, and ask for privacy at this time."
And the pair really did seem to continue to be the best of friends, being spotted on frequent outings with Luca as a family and even looking very lovey-dovey at times.
One small clue that Duff had followed through with that major life decision yesterday (or is battling a cold) was her Instagram pic of a rather delicious-looking pot of homemade soup, captioned, "Always makes Ya feel better..."
The "All About You" singer married Comrie on Aug. 14, 2010, in Santa Barbara, Calif. Comrie, a journeyman pro hockey player who hails from Alberta, signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins shortly after they tied the knot; but, plagued by injuries, he ultimately retired from the NHL in February 2012 after undergoing his third hip surgery.
The divorce news comes, meanwhile, a day after the Daily Mail reported that Comrie had enjoyed a pretty wild, single-guy-type night out at Mastro's steakhouse in Beverly Hills on Jan. 30.
