Is Will Smith Returning to Music for a Kanye West Collaboration? Focus Star Says He's "Trying to Find My Voice"
Could more of our dreams be coming true?!
After a 10-year hiatus from music, Will Smith could be reprising his rap career! Take a moment to let that sink in. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum is getting back in the studio, hopefully to record more hits similar to his instant classics, "Welcome to Miami," "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" and "Just the Two of Us."
The Focus actor told E! News that not only could he be returning to his former glory days but also that he and Kanye West have been working together!
"I went into the studio with [Kanye] a couple times," he told us. "He's pushing me a little bit. I'm trying to find my voice because...I got things I want to say I just can't find them.
"I can't get them out poetically the way that I want just yet, but you never know," he added.
Well, hopefully you find them soon enough, Will, because we're anxious to hear your grand return! Seriously, the nostalgia is too real.
When E! News asked whether or not he and the "Only One" rapper would be collaborating, Will dished, "For sure. Absolutely."
GAH!
The Wild Wild West actor previously talked to David Letterman about a potential return to music after performing on The Late Show, and didn't necessarily take the option off the table. He revealed that getting in front of a microphone "really gets me excited."
As he continues to promote Focus he also stopped by the Ellen DeGeneres Show where he tested fans on their knowledge of the theme song from Fresh Prince. Instead of just rapping everything, he let the audience take over for most parts.
They started off strong but their memory seemed to betray them towards the end. Next time, Will, just put us in charge. We got this!
