Ronda Rousey Asks for More Time Off, Won't Fight at UFC 200 After All Because of Road House Reboot
However, he told Yahoo! Sports on Tuesday that the fighter has asked for more time off and that she won't fight at the event as planned because of a prior commitment—she is due to film a remake of Road House and production has been delayed. Her participation was announced in September.
"The filming of the movie got pushed back," White said. "She could do both, but the question is, should she do both? She could do both, but why should she? The filming is in a time frame where she'd finish before 200, but it would be cutting it too close."
"The way I look at this one is, Ronda has worked her ass off for us for the last three years," he added. "She's been fighting, promoting and building the sport. If anyone deserves the time off, it's her."
Rousey has not commented.
She is set to play the main character, a bouncer, in Road House, a remake of a cult 1989 film that starred Patrick Swayze. This marks her major film debut, following small roles in movies such as The Expendables 3, Furious 7 and Entourage.
White had recently said Holm will fight at UFC 197 against Miesha Tate on March 5, marking the former fighter's first match since beating Rousey.
