Khloe Kardashian Gives an Update on Lamar Odom's Health
The interview marked the first time Kardashian had talked about Odom on live TV since his overdose. GMA co-host Lara Spencer noted that she seemingly "put everything on hold" when Odom was hospitalized last fall. "It was really scary," the star of E!'s Keeping Up With the Kardashians said. "When we got to the hospital in Vegas, we were told, you know, 'There's only a few hours to live.' We had to make some medical decisions. There was a lot of challenges, but he's a fighter, and obviously, he's here now and he's out of the hospital. That's a long stay—almost four months in the hospital. But it's a long journey—it will be a long journey—but as long as he's willing to fight it and constantly better himself, then that's all I could ask for."
Spencer also asked why Kardashian recently referred to Odom as her "soul mate," given that they're no longer together. "I do believe that we're soul mates, but right now, that's not even where my head is at. I'm more of a from a friend standpoint. I genuinely love him and I genuinely want him to be healthy and happy and all of that, like I would any of my family members or loved ones, so that's at a place where I'm coming from," Kardashian, 31, said of Odom, 36. "I think people, they don't understand the severity of everything, and, like, that's not even a factor. But me knowing or thinking that Lamar was my soul mate before any of this happened...you know, things change and life gets in the way and that's OK. It's all about his health and my happiness and his happiness. Right now those are two individual things."
"Do you think he'll stay on track?" Spencer asked.
"I hope so. I don't know. Again, I cannot look into the future," Kardashian said of whether her ex will stay sober. "I have planned and planned for years and it never went the way I wanted, so I'm really just doing one day at a time. And I'm happy living that way, one day at a time."
