Jada Pinkett Smith Addresses Academy After Calling for Oscars Boycott

Days after taking to social media to vent her frustrations over the lack of diversity among the nominees for this year's Oscars, Jada Pinkett Smith has message for Academy.

"I would like to express my gratitude to the Academy, specifically Cheryl Boone Isaacs, for such a quick response in regard to the issue at hand," she wrote before adding, "I look forward to the future."

Over the weekend, the actress penned the following tweets after it was revealed that the 2016 Academy Awards will mark the second year in a row in which every nominee in all four acting categories—20 slots total—are all white.

"At the Oscars...people of color are always welcomed to give out awards...even entertain," she wrote. "But we are rarely recognized for our artistic accomplishments. Should people of color refrain from participating all together? People can only treat us in the way in which we allow. With much respect in the midst of deep disappointment."

Late last week, Isaacs spoke openly about her thoughts on the matter, telling Deadline, "Of course I am disappointed. But this is not to take away the greatness (of the films nominated). This has been a great year in film, it really has across the board."

She further shared, "You are never going to know what is going to appear on the sheet of paper until you see it," and added that the efforts at more diversity for the Academy are moving too slowly. "We have got to speed it up."
