Funeral for Celine Dion's Husband Will Be at Church Where They Wed

Celine Dion is ensuring that all of her devoted fans know just how much her late husband, René Angélil, meant to her.

"He will be remembered as a gentle man, generous and kind, an unprecedented visionary, a modern Pygmalion, a Renaissance man," read a tribute posted on the platinum-selling singer's Facebook page, in which she also shared funeral plans for Angélil, who died Thursday after a long battle with throat cancer.

"All who had the privilege of knowing him and of working closely with him, whether personally or professionally, salute a leader and a man of great intelligence and wisdom."

Angélil and Dion married in 1994 and were the parents of three sons together, René-Charles and twins Nelson and Eddy.

And even after his passing, the couple's touching love story endures.

Dion's post also announced that Angélil will be honored in a funeral service in his native Montreal at the very cathedral where they married nearly 22 years ago, the Notre-Dame Basilica, "where he chose to marry the one who will remain as the great love of his life, the artist for which he had the most respect, the woman who gave him light and happiness until his very last breath."

A Chapel of Rest will be open to the public on Jan. 21 followed by a religious service on Jan. 22.

A public memorial in Las Vegas, where the couple made their home for many years while Dion's had a performance residency, is also scheduled for Feb. 3 at the Caesars Palace Colosseum.

Support has of course been pouring in for Dion, including a sweet message posted today by fellow chart-topper Mariah Carey.

"Dear Celine, I'm heartbroken for you and your family upon hearing the [devastating] news about Rene. I know there's nothing I can say to take the pain away but I'm sure the memories will comfort you now and always. My deepest condolences to you and your family.

"Love always, Mariah."
