BARCELONA TO APPEAL SUAREZ'S TWO-GAME COPA DEL REY BAN AFTER TUNNEL BUST-UP

Barcelona have confirmed that they will appeal Luis Suarez's two-game Copa del Rey suspension after the Uruguayan's alleged involvement in a tunnel bust-up with Espanyol's players.

Suarez was alleged to have threatened his counterparts following Barca's 4-1 win, having been involved in an altercation with Pape Diop during the game which culminated in the Espanyol midfielder receiving a red card.

The referee then wrote in his report that Suarez goaded the players following the final whistle, with Suarez subsequently punished.

"Once in the tunnel, Barça’s No.9, Suarez, Luis, while the Espanyol players were coming up the stairs, waited for them and shouted at them on various occasions,” read the report.

“He [Suarez] said: ‘I’m waiting for you, come here! You’re a waste of space.’

“It provoked a confrontation between players of both clubs and the present security guards had to get involved, as did coaches of both teams.”

Barca are now set to fight the suspension as they aim to have the Uruguayan available for action ahead of the second leg.
