Model Lauren Wasser, Who Had Leg Amputated, Recreates Kylie Jenner's Controversial Wheelchair Photo

Supermodel Lauren Wasser is putting her own powerful spin on Kylie Jenner's infamous Interview photoshoot.

Less than a week after the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star sparked backlash for posing in a wheelchair, photographer Jennifer Rovero and her two sons decided to present a new perspective with the beautiful model.

"When the photo of Kylie first surfaced, we were indifferent," Rovero told E! News exclusively. "It wasn't until we were taking my kids to school that we heard on the radio the reactions, and something stood out: One of the hosts said, 'It's because we don't have any models to use in the first place' as it was a fashion shoot."

She continued, "That's when we decided to recreate this moment and show a real fashion model."

In comes Wasser who lost her right leg from toxic shock syndrome back in 2012. Currently signed with Vision Los Angeles, the beauty who recently walked in Vogue's CFDA fashion fund runway show is hoping to raise awareness on the condition and change the perception of the way the fashion industry defines beauty.

"We weren't coming from a negative place but rather, 'Oh wait let's show real life,' because this is our reality," Rovero explained to E! News. "We wanted to create a conversation, as we are trying to change how beauty is defined."

As for Interview, the magazine recently explained why they chose to use the wheelchair as a prop.

"At Interview, we are proud of our tradition of working with great artists and empowering them to realize their distinct and often bold visions," the publication said in an exclusive statement to E! News. " The Kylie Jenner cover by Steven Klein, which references the British artist Allen Jones, is a part of this tradition, placing Kylie in a variety of positions of power and control and exploring her image as an object of vast media scrutiny."

As for Wasser's photograph, plus-size model Tess Holliday recently saw the image and couldn't help but applaud the message.

"@TheImpossibleMuse showing us all how it's done," she wrote on Instagram. "@Fotofetish #EffYourBeautyStandards."
