Twitter Weeps for Miss Jamaica as Miss Colombia Is Crowned Miss Universe

It should have been one of the happiest moments of her life, but Miss Colombia Paulina Vega experienced something quite different when she was crowned Miss Universe Sunday night.

Some members of the crowd--and much of the Twittersphere--booed the 22-year-old student, as many of them felt Miss Jamaica Kaci Fennell was robbed of the title.

There are several theories circulating regarding Fennell's loss, which range from her short haircut to her Jamaican heritage. The pageant, which is owned by Donald Trump, has seen its fair share of controversy lately, but this seems to have brought viewers over the top.

One user was so shocked by Miss Colombia's win that he alluded to the famous Kanye West-Taylor Swift VMA moment from a couple of years ago.

"I half expected #Kanye to jump up on stage & take the crown from Miss Columbia and give it to Miss Jamaica. #BeautyPagentProblems," @BB10VW wrote, referencing the infamous moment when the "Only One" rapper stormed the stage and claimed Beyoncé should have taken home the prize for Best Female Video.

Here are other reactions to Miss Jamaica's, who ended up placing fourth-runner up, snub:

Just last week, another controversy rocked the Miss Universe pageant. Miss Lebanon (Saly Greige) faced backlash when she appeared in a photo with Miss Israel (Doron Matalon). The two countries have been at war with each other since 1948. Although no actions were taken, the consequences could have been severe. In 1993, Miss Lebanon was stripped of her title when she appeared in a photo with Miss Israel.

Both contestants addressed the scandal by with their own explanations. Miss Lebanon claimed Miss Israel had photobombed her, while Miss Israel wondered why two women couldn't pose in a photo together during the opportunity of a lifetime.
