Taylor Swift Has Cornrows?! Singer Treats Fans to Epic Throwback Picture After 1989 Album Success

Oh, Taylor Swift! You really didn't have to do this for us Swifties.

As 1989 continues to dominate the charts, (hello 1.2 million album sales), the 24-year-old beauty celebrated her success with a very special photo.

"The last time an album sold as many copies as 1989 did first week, it was 2002," she shared on Instagram. "I was 12, and going through my 'braids phase'. #nofilternecessary"

Some call it braids. But let's be honest, those are classic cornrows and Swift is rocking them!

Loyal fans of the singer have heard rumors about this alleged memorable hairstyle. In fact, during a recent interview with Teen Vogue, Swift shared some of her fashion and beauty missteps.

"My high school pictures are, like...tragic," she admitted. "My style forever was going to be cornrows. I took my school pictures with the cornrows."

She joked, "It really thrust me into what it's like to not have anywhere to sit in the cafeteria." Turns out she wasn't totally kidding.

While industry experts predicted her latest project to sell 650,000 copies in its first week, her fans defied expectations by picking up more than 1.287 million copies. That number hasn't been seen since Eminem released The Eminem Show all the way back in 2002.

Lucky for fans, this is only the beginning to celebrate!

The "Shake It Off" and "Out of the Woods" singer recently announced the 1989 world tour, which will kick off in Louisiana on May 20, 2015. Oddly enough, the "Welcome to New York" songstress and NYC tourism ambassador has no dates set in her beloved new home.

Knowing Swift, we bet an even bigger surprise is coming very soon!
