Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder Adopt a Kitten--Meet Their New "Family" Member!

Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder have only been dating a few months, but they've already decided to expand their family!

Yes, it's true: The Twilight alum and her hunky Vampire Diaries beau have adopted...a kitten!

Nikki introduced their new fur baby on Instagram, snuggling up to the cat for a sweet selfie. "Went to the animal shelter today to give some love to the babies living in cages and don't have homes and ended up adopting the little girl!" she wrote."What should we name her?"

Ian tweeted a link to Nikki's post, proudly giving his own introduction to "the newest addition to the family!"

"Holy s--t this little GIRL is amazing!" he wrote. "PLEASE Adopt Adopt Adopt."

Ian's got his money where his mouth is on this one. The animal advocate has a whole menagerie of rescued animals--including his beloved dog Nietzsche, who he adopted just over a year ago, not knowing at the time that she was pregnant!

Ian, with the help of ex-girlfriend Nina Dobrev, saw to it that Nietzsche safely delivered her puppies. Just last week, the animal lover celebrated the mama pup's first year with him. He Instagrammed a pic of the dog kissing his face, along with girlfriend Nikki and one of her pups, writing, "Congrats to our little [Neitzsche] here-1 year ago today, to the minute, you brought 5 beautiful puppies into this world...thank you for your amazing contribution to all of our lives. However, welcome to the wonderful world of being spayed-The world does not need any more puppies, we kill millions and millions per year."

He also praised Nikki, writing, "your recent work with Gilt benefiting the @aspca is truly [truly] extraordinary. Thank you for giving so much of your life and for being a strong voice for those whom can speak. My hat is off to you. You amaze me. Love, Ian"

Ah, puppy love!
